What Can and Cannot Go in a Dumpster
A clear list of accepted materials, restricted items and prohibited hazardous waste for Georgia roll-off rentals.
Accepted materials
- Household junk, furniture, clothing and toys
- Construction and demolition debris: lumber, drywall, siding, flooring, cabinetry
- Roofing shingles and underlayment
- Yard waste: brush, limbs, leaves, sod, stumps
- Concrete, brick, block, asphalt and dirt (heavy-debris container only)
- Scrap metal, doors, windows and fixtures
Accepted with a fee or advance notice
- Mattresses and box springs
- Refrigerators, freezers and AC units (refrigerant must be removed and tagged)
- Other appliances such as washers, dryers and water heaters
- Large quantities of tires (limited and by arrangement)
Prohibited items
These materials are not accepted at Georgia landfills and cannot go in any roll-off container. Loads containing them may incur sorting fees or be rejected.
- Paint, stains, solvents and thinners
- Motor oil, gasoline and other fuels
- Batteries of any kind
- Propane tanks and pressurized cylinders
- Pesticides, herbicides and pool chemicals
- Asbestos-containing material
- Medical and biohazard waste
- Fluorescent tubes and electronics in bulk
